2124 Aluminum Alloy

2124 aluminum alloy was developed by studying the microscopic fracture mechanism of high-strength aluminum compositions. It is an improvement of 2024 aluminum alloy with strictly controlled iron and silicon content. These iron and silicon elements are related to the formation of secondary phase particles. By reducing the size of these secondary phases and controlling their distribution, thereby minimizing the harmful effects of these phases, the fracture toughness and uniformity of fracture properties are improved, especially in the short transverse direction.
