Alloy 6069 is a 6000 series heat-treatable Mg-Si-Cu aluminum alloy. Its ultimate tensile strength and yield strength under T6 conditions are about 40% higher than those of 6061 alloy, which is basically equal to the tensile properties of 6013-T6 plates and the corrosion-resistant does not seem inferior to 6061.
When the heat treatment conditions of 6069 aluminum alloy are changed, it can provide a wider range of mechanical properties. It should be noted that its eutectic melting temperature is 579oC. The recommended solution heat treatment conditions are 565oC×1.5 hours, while the aging heat treatment conditions are 171oC×16 hours.
