7150

Aluminum alloy 7150 is an improved version of alloy 7050. Its adjustment narrows the composition range of 7050, so 7150 and 7050 are compatible, allowing the design strength to be slightly increased. Alloy 7150 has a slightly higher zinc content range and a slightly lower copper and magnesium content range, and since manufacturers generally avoid extreme composition ranges, 7150 supplied on normal orders will also meet the requirements of 7050. Alloy 7150 has excellent compression yield strength, and its most notable use is in the wings of large commercial aircraft.
Heat treatments for 7150 aluminum alloy are generally manufacturer proprietary and solution heat treatments are similar to Alloy 7050. But what is more special is that the improved 7150-T61511 and T7751 will have better properties.

Application:
Since 7150 is an improved alloy of 7050, 7150 can be used like 7050 in industrial applications that require high strength and good resistance to stress corrosion and fracture toughness, such as bicycle shock absorber fork tubes, baseball bats and lacrosse, in addition to providing the required high tensile strength and good corrosion resistance and fatigue resistance, it can also be used in aircraft parts, beams and tubes.
