Aluminum alloy 6013 is a relatively new medium-strength heat-treatable alloy. The strengthening of its heat treatment aging comes from the precipitation of magnesium-silicon and magnesium-silicon-copper-aluminum phases. Although 6013 alloy has good corrosion resistance, it still has a higher tendency of intergranular corrosion compared with 6061 alloy. Under improper processing, it is expected to lead to a decrease in fatigue resistance, ductility and strength.

Application:
Due to the insignificant natural aging hardening in the T4 temper and excellent formability, 6013 alloy can be subjected to aging heat treatment directly after forming to obtain peak strength. The main application is as a candidate material for aircraft skins and automotive parts such as 2024 sheets.
Due to its higher strength than ordinary 6xxx alloys and good weldability, 6013 alloy is also widely used in bicycle frames, wheel frames, handlebars, etc.
